Have a look on different types of life safety systems

There was a time when thousands of people used to lose their lives in the fire accidents and other emergencies and it was a very common news. The main reason for this was a shortage of proper life safety systems. But with the advent of modern and advanced technology, today we have quite a variety of systems that we can use in our buildings. Many organizations and people ignore the necessity of these systems but due to these equipment, many people are alive. There are many elements that are included in safety systems. In this blog, we will discuss some of the important ones.

  • Fire Alarm Systems- These are the basic systems installed in every building. The fire alarm is not one device, it is the combination of many devices such as- smoke detectors and manual pull boxes, notification devices like- horns, alarms, strobe lights, a panel with LED lights, an alert device, batteries for backup power, and a control unit. Some alarm systems are connected with some kind of water sprinkler systems or other water distribution systems. These systems are also connected with which they are commanded to the elevators or lifts to stop at the ground levels. In addition to that many fire alarm systems have a direct connection to the offsite central monitoring station or fire emergency office.
  • Fire Sprinkler System- This is the most reliable system used for controlling industrial fires. The systems are engineered, installed and supervised in accordance with relevant codes of a specific area. Fire sprinkler systems are available in different types. Wet pipe systems and dry sprinkler systems are widely used in the industries and offices. As the name suggests the wet pipes release a certain amount of water whereas the dry sprinkler systems use a specific substance used to protect electronic and electrical devices such as- electronic devices systems and electrical equipment.
  • Smoke Alarms and Carbon Monoxide Alarms- These alarm systems are different from the fire alarm systems. These are initiating devices of fire alarm systems. The main purpose of smoke and carbon Monoxide alarms is to detect the smoke and fumes of Carbon Monoxide. As the carbon monoxide is the main content of the smoke or fire. If detected they are connected to alarm systems which further connected to the sprinkler systems and fire alarm systems.
  • Fire extinguishers- It is one of the equipments used and mounted in almost every public office or private premises. There are several types of fire extinguishers and can be divided into different classes, such as- water extinguishers, foam extinguishers, powder extinguishers, CO2 extinguishers, and wet chemical extinguishers.
